Before I confirm my decision regarding what type of magazine cover I will design (Mainstream or independent) I am going to annotate a poster just in terms of the conventions of magazine front covers. I feel this will be of huge benefit to me and my understanding as to what goes on a magazine front cover and why.
After analysing Empire magazine front cover, I have discovered conventions that appear on magazine front covers:
- A masthead (At the top, in big font so that it stands out)
-Cover lines (Referencing films that feature in the magazine)
-An Image
-Bar code
-Issue date
-Other images from films due for release
-Banners
and although not in this poster:
-Websites
-Slogans
