The next poster I chose to analyse is Were the millers, a comedy genre. The conventions are similar from all the other posters. Some of the similar ones are This poster again like the One Direction poster has one main image but with four characters in. The arrows with 'stripper' 'drug dealer' 'virgin' and 'runaway' on reflect the comedy genre in design. This also has mutual conventions with all the other posters I have looked at including the title, the release date and the tagline.

Poster analysis - 'Percy Jackson Sea Of Monsters'
The next poster I have decided to analyse is Percy Jackson Sea Of Monsters is of the fantasy genre. Again, the poster shares the same conventions as the previous posters I have looked at. Some of the similar conventions are a release date, billing, title (one of the most prominent features) and a dominant central image.

Poster analysis - One Direction This Is Us
The next poster I have decided to analyse is One Direction This Is Us from the comedy/auto biography genre. Again, the poster shares similar conventions to that of other posters such as a release date, billing/credits, the title (one of the most prominent features),a dominant picture of the main character and a website. However in this poster there are more than one main character so the dominant picture is not of one character it is of five of them.
Poster analysis 'The family'
I have chosen to look at a number of different posters from different genres to see whether they contain similar conventions. Here, I am looking for conventions that all posters share, regardless of genre. Once I have decided on the conventions that reappear time and time again I will make sure that I incorporate them into my sketches and designs, and my final poster that I produce.
The first film I am analysing is for a film ' The family' of the gangster genre.
I think conventions will be consistent across most of the posters I will look at and include : a large image of the central character in the film/usually the main star, the name of the in a prominent position, the credits (usually at the bottom of the poster), logos for the studios producing and distributing the film (often small and found at the bottom of the page) and a website for the film.
Other conventions that do not always appear on every poster (depending on the type of film and when the poster appeared in the films marketing campaign) include release date, the name of the director and sound logos.

Posters conventions
I have chosen five posters from a variety of genres to point out the similarities of the posters even if they are from a different genre. I suspect that most posters have the same conventions on them, for example nearly all posters will have a main image, the title of the film and release date.
The five posters I am looking at are for the following films : 'Insidious 2' (horror), 'Percy Jackson- Sea Of Monsters' (fantasy), '1D This Is Us' (concert/music/biography), 'We're The Millers' (comedy) and 'The Family' (gangster).

Introduction
I am creating part of a marketing campaign for an imaginary film. I am unsure about my genre at the moment so I am going to be looking at existing marketing campaigns for real films, looking at teaser trailers, posters and magazine covers to help me get an understanding of the similarities between the mediums and what the basic conventions are before I chose my genre and chose my own.
I want to make sure that there is similarity and unity between my teaser trailer, my poster and my magazine front cover so that people will recognise that they are all connected.
